Who is Your Favourite Pipe Band and Why?
I tend to gravitate towards bands I enjoy listening to that include St Laurence O’Toole, Boghall and Bathgate, Field Marshal and McNeillstown.

What is Your Favourite Tune?
There are many tunes I enjoy listening to, my preference would be more towards hornpipes jigs and reels, 2/4 March wise I would have to say Lord Alexander Kennedy..

Favourite Brand Of Drum?
Each drum has its strengths, I haven’t played the newer Premier so really cant give an opinion as yet but of the drums I have played I would list in no particular order the older models of Pearl and Premier, and the prototype Mojo drum I played last season. I haven’t played Andante in quite a few years but they remain a popular choice.

Favourite Brand Of Stick?
I guess it’s a case of different sticks for different applications I had my own design of stick during my time with FM which worked well for what I wanted to achieve. I guess I need to try a few different makes before I could give an informed opinion, I will get back to you on that one!!!!

The best band performance? That’s a hard one, over the years I have been fortunate to be a part of many fantastic band performances, and no doubt will be in the future!!!!!!!

Yes.

Last But Not Least

If you could give anyone advice / tips what would they be?

Enjoy your playing

Playing wise, be sympathetic to the melodic line of the music and light and shade of the drum corps.

Flourishing, irrespective of the style, in my opinion its important to have neatly choreographed and well timed visuals.

Do you have any forthcoming plans in the Pipe Band / Tenor Drumming world? If so, care to share?
Just to continue enjoying my playing

Lastly, Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Hopefully still enjoying what I’m doing!!!
